The Chittenden County Transportation operates the public bus service for the Burlington area. Their Web site provides information on the fares, various routes and even the shuttle service.

General fares are $1.25 per trip, and multi-ride tickets and adult monthly passes are also available. Children under six-years old may ride free with adult, and additional children may ride at a discount fare rate. Check the Web site for fare information.

All CCTA buses are accessible to those passengers in wheelchairs. The buses include wheelchair lifts and drivers can assist passengers who require additional help. Many of the buses also include bike racks as well. Be sure to be ready to attach your bike when the bus arrives. Taxicabs are also available but generally cabs need to be arranged ahead of time. Cabs can be hailed on the street, but as they're not as common as in larger cities you could end up waiting for a while for a car to arrive. Consult with your hotel upon your arrival to town.

For trips a bit further out the Vermont Transit Lines offers service to various cities and towns around New England, with additional bus service to New York and Boston.
