Weather in Leavenworth is relatively mild—in the summer temps do not tap the nineties too frequently, and winter lows rarely get below fifteen. An outdoor person’s paradise, seasonal scenery rotates but always impresses, twelve months a year.
If a particular type of weather will not sway your decision as to when to come to Leavenworth, perhaps its extensive list of events will. The city’s theater is most vibrant in the summer, as is its music scene. In August, Leavenworth hosts an Acoustic Music Festival that puts out quality Jazz, Folks, and Blues. Also this month there is a Wine Tasting Festival that pulls in even more tourists to the Bavarian Village.
Autumn is home to Leaf Festivals, quilt displays, a Salmon Festival and the city’s own Oktoberfest. And people who come in late November can check out the Christkindlmarkt, an open-air Christmas Market that is a favorite local event, and a Christmas Lighting Festival takes places most of the weekends that follow.
Finally, in the winter the city’s holds various ski and sculpture competitions, along with other activities that make good use of the seasonal weather.
