Since 1979, ROW Adventures has offered whitewater rafting day trips in the region. The Spokane River offers travelers a different and fun way to experience Spokane. Starting just below the Spokane Falls in downtown Spokane, WA, ROW takes guests on a day trip that goes through many of the great landmarks of the Spokane area like the Bowl & Pitcher and Riverside State Park. Visitors will have a chance to see various wildlife of the region like bald eagles, osprey, deer, beavers and other wildlife. From May to June, when the water is at a medium or high level, there are class III rapids during the trip and it's best suited for people ages eight and up. As the water drops in late June, July and August, ROW also offers gentle float trips and these are available for anyone ages five and up. ROW has a bus that picks people up from their Adventure Center in downtown Spokane and makes various hotel stops to accommodate guests.
Very few urban areas anywhere in the world have such a beautiful and wild river flowing through their downtown area. The fact that there are also whitewater rapids make it even more special and unique. In addition to the rapids at the Bowl and Pitcher, there are numerous other splashy class II rapids and the exciting Devil's Toenail which is class III+ rapid. Evening trips are especially interesting in terms of the amount of wildlife that can be seen. In the evening light deer come to the bank to browse, herons wade near the shore and beaver swim from their dens.
