View of Marsh in Horicon Wi

Horicon is a small quaint town. With that being said, activities are sparse but those found are unique and perfect for those who like small town feel with plenty of charm and scenery.

Local events include:

Riverbend Park Disc Golf Course - this is a moderate to easy course with a few challenging holes. Well worth the trip to the park for a an hour of quiet peace, listening to the river, with beautiful trees and scenery. The local library has golf discs for checkout if you do not have a set.

Horicon Huk Disc Golf Tournament - held in May and Sept on the Riverbend Park Course, this tournament is a small local affair, with cash prizes for both recreational and competitive catagories.

Music at the Market concert series: every Wedensday night at the Kiwanis Park a local Wisconsin band plays.  The band is right beside a farmers market and food cookout. Featuring Polka Bands, Blues, Country, Samba and others, most attendees will be pleased. See the www.horiconphoenix.com website for schedule and dates.

The library also hosts many activites on Thursday nights: A lego building club, Knitting Club, Pokemon Club, and children's crafts. Other events include: storytime, adult book clubs, and Teen activities.

The Horicon March International Educational Center hosts a plethera of activities: movie at the marsh, owl and wildlife discussions, a children's discovery center, tours of the marsh, and in January, a Candlelight Walk. All activities are free. Located between Horicon and Mayville, the center is well-worth the stop for a traveling family in need of a break. Be aware, the marsh gets buggy during summer months, especially August. If you are planning your trip in January, the Candlelight Walk is a unique experience, with owl watching, star gazing, and snow shoes for participants.

Autumn Art on the Marsh - this fall festival involves art, strolling through golden-leafed trees, and a chance to taste the best local food. One of Horicon's most popular events, the visitor can browse through almost a hundred booths with local crafts and wares, sample food from local-favorites such as Leroy Meats, Ice Cream Station, and Crabby's Diner.

Local Attractions and Restaurants:

Crabby's Diner - Just like its name suggests, this restaurant features traditional diner foods, hamburgers, fries, sandwhiches and pizza. With most plates moderatly priced, its a nice stop while traveling through or just for an afternoon of yummy fries.

Ice Cream Station - A must stop for all visitors. Serving rich and addictive flavors of Cedar Crest icecream, you will soon go out of your way to get a scoop. Child cones are very reasonable and the flavors are amazing.

Leroy Meats - a local meatshop that is well-known for its high quality steaks and variety. Also serves sandwhichs for lunch. A local favorite for its wide selection of brats.

Ledge Park

Dodge County Ledge Park: formed by glaciers, this park is filled with beautiful scenery, short hikes, a modern, spacious playground, camping, and widing walkways through ledges. Visitors may stay on top and walk around the small ravines and chasms or climb down and enjoy wandering through the ledges. Particulary beautiful in late September and October when the fall leaves are in full color.
