Balistreri's is an institution. The real deal in neighborhood Italian bistros. The "Special" pizza with thin crust is a great choice. The fried zucchini is a must, too, but it's not available on Fridays because fryer is given over to fish fry. Decent pizza wine list and plenty of beer selections. Very casual...for locals in the know. Order a half-baked pizza ahead to take with when you get the next craving for Balistreri's pizza. After dinner, cruise on over to 72nd and Bluemound for Gilles' frozen custard.
