Despite the paucity of transportation services in Princeville, getting around in the resort town is incredibly easy since it is so small.  A planned community of resorts, golf, and luxury dining, Princeville is tiny and is for this reason best explored by foot.

Avis
is the only rental car company located on the North Shore section of the Kauai Island in which Princeville is located.  That said, a venture to another part of the island to pick one up should not be too great an ordeal.  Kauai’s Island hosts both Kauai Car Rentals and Pacific Island Rentals and the Lihue/Kalapaki area has all the well-known car companies, from

  • Alamo Rent A Car (269) 382-2820
  • Avis Rent-A-Car (269) 381-0555
  • Basic Car Rental (269)382-2820
  • Budget Rent A Car (269)381-0617
When staying in Princeville, “getting around” takes on another connotation aside from intra-island travel or honeymoon faux pas: one should literally get around Kauai, circumscribing the Island via boat tour.  Reputable companies providing this service include Na Pali Eco Adventure, Blue Ocean Adventures, Bluewater Sailing, Captain Don, Captain Zodiac Raft Expeditions, Hanalei Sea Tours, Napali Catamaran, and Napali Riders.  Cruise options include Captain Na Pali Boat Cruises as well as Paradise Adventures.

Between these different services, getting to Princeville should prove the real hassle, at least relative to getting around—however you mean that.
