One of the most popular places to shop in Lahaina is Front Street.   The majority of the stores are souvenir shops, mixed with a few art galleries and restaurants.   Shoppers can stroll down the street, browse through the shops, and quite often find some great deals at places like Maui Tees, which has really inexpensive t-shirts or Oh Baby,  which has a more eclectic array of merchandise.  For great Hawaiian gear, check out Hilo Hattie.  They have everything from floral-print shirts to hula skirts, and have several retail locations throughout Hawaii.

Lahaina Center  on Front Street is a good place to shop for necessities.  In addition to gift shops, it also has a supermarket, bank, pharmacy, and post office, as well as several dining establishments and a chiropractor.

Shoppers who prefer air-conditioned shopping malls should check out   Lahaina Cannery , which has some unique stores such as Honolua Surf Co. that sells surfing clothes and accessories,.  Longs Drugs, Safeway, food court, and  Maui Treasures for gifts.

Don't overlook the Lahaina Industrial area above Lahaina Gateway Center and the Cannery Mall. Head up Keawe St. to Kupuohi and discover Guy Junker Art Studio, SweetParadise Chocolatier at the Lahaina Design Center and Star Noodle.

The Whalers Village Shopping Center is also a favorite, as it hosts a number of events throughout the year, such as live music performances, arts and crafts demonstrations, and art exhibits.  It is also home to the Whale Museum,  which has a number of artifacts from the early 1800s, when the area attracted many whaling ships.

If you are really lucky there might be a Sunday gift and craft fair at the Lahaina Civic Center.  With 70 vendors you will find some standard souveneers, hand made crafts, piano key art , unique and original items that are competitivley priced.  There will be banners and flags on the Hwy 30 by the post office if the gift and craft show is being held.  The schdule of the Lahaina Civic Center is also posted in the Maui County website.
