  • Big Apple Greeters This is a FREE personal tour service offered by volunteers. You can select a particular neighborhood or location, or try your luck with "Greeter's Choice," where a Greeter might take you to his or her old neighborhood, or a less-traveled part of the city. You must register far in advance. Tours depend on the volunteers' schedules, so you won't get a confirmation until shortly before your arrival or at your hotel. But, it is always worth it!
  • Municipal Arts Society Walking Tours "Since 1956, MAS has been offering walking tours of New York’s cityscape, led by architectural, urban, and art historians, urban geographers, architects, teachers and writers. Most tours last about two hours and usually proceed rain or shine." Includes tours of Grand Central Terminal and Wall Street. If you join the MAS, tours are only $15, and you're elgible for members-only tours. Could be worth it for repeat visitors!

  • Inside Broadway Tours Have a professional Broadway actor show you Broadway!   They will show you the "real-life" drama and comedy of Broadway, the "must-know" history and gossip.   • NYC Adventure Tours Ike, our engaging tour director, walked us for 2.5 hours through Lower Manhattan and regaled us with stories of NYC's past and his experiences as an NYPD detective and private investigator.  Adding to the authenticity, he met several friends still on the force as we wove through streets that included Little Italy and Chinatown, covering almost 30 sights.  Ike was well prepared with a loose-leaf of past photos of former criminals and street scenes and, at the end of the tour, a handout that listed visited highlights plus a book he co-authored entitled: “A Cop’s Guide to Lower Manhattan.”
