Tar-Isteach Cafe and Deli is located on Broadway between 104th and 103rd Street.  It's a new additon to the Morningside Heights/Manhattan Valley/Upper West Side Scene.  It opened in January 2009 by a man who has been feeding the neighborhood for years at his breakfast cart on 104th Street.  The Cafe and Deli is open from early morning until the wee hours of the night for the convenience of jet-lagged tourists from the Marrakech Hotel and Columbia University Students and local night-owls, at large.  It covers all the bases from H & H bagels, muffins, pastries, fresh coffee, teas and smoothies to  soups, deli sandwiches, fresh made salads, grill specialities like burgers, cheese steaks, and omelettes to hot comfort foods like mac and cheese and baked chicken.  It is known for quick takeout or eat-in at tables in front with the flower-filled vases and a view of bustling Broadway.  The middle-eastern desserts are homemade...bakalava, pistachio and honey phyllo delights and others.  The warmth of the staff is welcome in this busy city.  Tar-Isteach is Gaelic for "Come In" (the owner's wife is part Irish).  It is an international treat for tourists, locals and students on the Upper West Side.
