The Jazz Gallery is a special place for New York jazz fans. It has been called "the most imaginatively booked jazz club in New York." This is because The Gallery exists to spur innovation and nurture young jazz musicians from across the globe. At the same time, it encourages more established musicians to create new ways of communicating their love of jazz.

The Gallery has also been called "the best place to hear live music in New York." That is because the room is a gallery, (once the rehearsal space for the then brand new Roy Hargrove Big Band) replete with folding chairs, etc. and jazz tinged art (for sale) on its walls.

People come to The Gallery not to eat, not to drink, but to hear the often stunningly beautiful and original music its acts present. While all musicians give their best when they play, there is something about encouraging players to exhibit their creative instincts that seems to bring out the best in them. Or perhaps it's because the audience at The Gallery is also the best in New York.
