Mammoth Lakes is an outdoors vacation spot, presenting idyllic conditions for nature lovers and athletes of all seasons.

Mammoth Mountain, standing 11,000 feet from base to summit with a skiable acreage of almost 1500 hectares, is an optimal downhill ski slope.  Enveloped in an annual average of 33 feet of snow, the spot is serviced by 27 lifts to accommodate thousands of beginners as well as practiced and expert skiers every month of the season.

Hiking is best in the summer and fall, as the Mammoth wilderness presents natural eye candy hard to find anywhere else.  Autumnal colors make the hikes more scenic, and there usually is not too much traffic on the trails.

When hiking and backpacking plan ahead, pack well, and beware of bears.  Also look out for marmots, mountain lions, deer, elk, bighorn sheep, weasels, and coyotes.

Mammoth Lakes is a great place to snowboard, snowshoe, bike, swim, fish…the list goes on and on.  The abundance of streams and lakes make for ideal kayak and canoe trips, sunny days call for hot air balloon rides and nature photography.  Choose the season, choose the activity, plan the itinerary, and make reservations for active relaxation in the Sierra outdoors!
