Astoria has several venues for the performing arts.

***  The beautiful Liberty Theater is a 1920's era vaudeville/motion picture palace, now a state-of-the-arts performing arts center.  The theater  underwent a complete renovation in 2002 and is just gorgeous. It hosts many events throughout the year, including the Astoria Music Festival, operas and classical music concerts.

Every summer the Missoula's Children Theater comes to the Liberty. They offer a summer theatre camp for local children, who then perform two shows.  Recent shows have been King Arthur's Quest and the Princess and the Pea.

***  The Astor Street Opry Company has been delighting audiences since 1983. During the summer months, "Shanghaied  in Astoria" is a must-see and an Astoria tradition.  It is a family-friendly play that involves audience participation and has entertained locals and visitors alike for many years.  You even get to throw popcorn at the villians!

Also presented by the Astor Street Opry Company are workshops, mystery plays, musicals and children's productions. For information about shows:  http://www.shanghaiedinastoria.com/sh...
