The Audubon Insectarium is the newest attraction in New Orleans - a must for the kids - come inside the historic Custom House and see the world's most common animals - insects...  Various areas of the museum include a place where you are "shrunk" to insect size, live encounters with insects, New Orleans' own personal history of insects, and a place where you can sample "insect cuisine".
