If you are planning to come in July, be prepared for some great events and fun.  The third weekend of July is the Lavender Festival in Sequim. Take the Clallam Transit bus to Sequim from Port Angles and use the shuttle buses to visit the farms on tour. The fourth weekend of July is when Nor'Wester Rotary holds their annual arts and crafts street fair known as Arts in Action.  The festival is held on the city pier and features continuous live music, a juried arts and crafts show with art demonstrations, and one of the top five sand sculpture competitions in the U.S.  The competition is the only invitational competition in North America and features international master sand sculptors vieing for prize money.  They are each given ten yards of specially imported sand and must carve a sculpture reflecting the year's theme. There are also car shows and this  family event is open to all.  More info at rotarynorwester.com

The Olympic Discovery Trail, a lovely seaside multi-use trail starts in Port Angeles and winds its way to Sequim.  Consider taking your bikes along to experience its length, or just wander along part of it for views along the Strait of Juan de Fuca and of the Olympic Mountains. This trail will eventually connect Port Townsend in the east to LaPush on the Pacific Ocean.

Every Wednesday night through the summer there is the concert at the pier downtown.  Bring a lawn chair and picnic and be part of the fun.

On Saturdays visit the local farmers market at the Gateway downtown.  Stop and show at some great little shops, antique markets and bookstores. Of course, while you are downtown, take in the Twilight locations and visit the Dazzled By Twilight store.
