The
Rogers Williams Zoo is the best zoo in New England by far. The zoo was nothing special before it closed in the late 70s. When it reopened in 1980, its emphasis on providing the best environment for the animals was evident. You can get there by bus or by car. Parking is free. Dinosaurs are extremely rare, and this zoo has three of them. If you are a resident of Providence, admission is free the first Saturday of every month. Or if you become a member and support the zoo, your admission is free for the entire year.
Although the event only occurs once/year, the Zoobilee fund raiser is a fantastic way to experience the zoo at night. There is an incredible choice of different appetizers, dinner, and desserts, as well as live entertainment. This event usually runs in June. Note it is not for children since they serve alcohol, and so you must be over 21 to attend.
