Once you are in Providence there are many options on how to get around. Keeping in mind that it is a busy city, you have to be aware of where you are and what time of day it is. Often times there can be traffic back ups all along Interstate-95, which causes back ups on the off-ramps, which then cause traffic problems in the city itself. This is especially a problem in the downtown area. If you choose to travel by bus, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) offers service to most parts of the city for around $1-$3. If you are using a car in the city, it is wise to note that overnight parking is not allowed anywhere in the city. During the day it can be hard to find spots as well, but there are other places you can park. The Westin Hotel has a large parking garage, and if you want to pay the small fee you can park at the Providence Place Mall and walk around from there. If you take a taxi, make sure you aren't paying more than $2.50 per mile, as that is a standard rate. Airport Taxi (401-737-2868), Checker Cab (401-273-2222), and Economy Cab (401-944-6700) are three very reliable cab companies.
