Wonderful living spaces are located on the ground floor. The dining room is a converted stable with a fine terracotta arch. The attractive kitchen/living area opens to a small courtyard that is perfect for alfresco breakfasts. A rose-covered arch leads into the garden, and down a few steps there is a wisteria covered pergola sheltering an extensive paved terrace furnished with garden furniture and a Tuscan barbecue. A picturesque stone path winds around the garden and takes you to the village below where there is an excel...

    Additional amenities & feature info
Thanks to the strict external restoration code that exists today, Pietrabuona Castello has remained a virtually intact seventeenth century village with the beautiful stone houses providing comfortable homes for their modern inhabitants.
'Casa delle Rose' has retained the traditional appeal of a village house, while being well-provided with good modern appliances. A small sitting-room, three large double bedrooms and two bathrooms are located on the three upper levels. Daytime activities mostly take place on the ground floor - or in the beautiful garden below.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

House was actually as portrayed in photos on the website, with Incredible views.
It was very comfortable and cosy, great ambience, a very well equiped kitchen and laundry, with beautiful gardens and barbeque areas. Would have liked to stay longer so could spend more time at the house.

Could be unsuitable for anyone with a medical condition eg heart/lung condition or mobility problem due to the steep pathways and staircases in house.

Cheese, prosciutto, wine and olives on the wisteria-hung terrace overlooking the chestnut and cassia covered hills provided a welcome relaxation at the end of many days of sight-seeing. A supermarket 5 ks away in Pescia made self-catering easy as did a take-away a short walk downhill where our difficulty was choosing from the simply delicious dishes prepared by the owner. Our hire car and the train from the nearby Pescia put us within easy reach of many great towns, gardens and cities. For us, spring was a wonderful time to visit with the roses that ran riot over the stone walls of the house coming into full bloom in the two weeks we were there. We could have stayed longer - so delightful and so much to see.
