We have been to Costa Rica about a dozen times and traveled throughout the country. However, we keep coming back to Casa de Ventanas. We love it! There is so much to do, the villa is terrific, and we love the wildlife. Strangely, the tiny village of Ojochal has many excellent restaurants. Rather than multiple hotel rooms, we like to be close to nature, away from crowds, and have the ability to eat in a few meals during the trip ---and wash clothes from all the outdoor activities.
Early each morning we heard the howler monkeys close by and watched toucans in the trees around the pool area. Have gotten great howler and white face monkey pictures! We've also seen numerous hummingbirds and butterflies each trip, right around the villa's rancho where we eat breakfast. If you take the trail on the property to the small waterfall, you are likely to see even more animals, especially coatimundi.
