The cottage was lovely, spacious, and in an oh-so-wonderfully quiet setting. It came well equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed the wood burning stove on cool evenings, as well as the comfortable sofas in which to relax as we chatted, read, wrote letters, etc.
The fact there are no street lights or house lights around made for wonderfully dark nights, with the stars and moon easily visible.
Across the road, there's a wonderful wetland which felt like a bit of sacred space.
A word of advice: When you turn on to Londons Road, pay no attention to the sign that says "No Through Road". Equally, pay no attention to the fact the house numbers suddenly jump out of order as you round the first major corner. Continue, for about 1.6 km, and you'll find yourself suddenly at the right place. Turn in, drive up the driveway, park, walk in, and enjoy.
