    Holiday Rental House –
    2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 5
Renovated farmhouse in the center of Gran Canaria Island in the area called Camaretas. No TV, no internet: HEAVEN ON, start trekking trails with various routes from the same up to the peak of Nives, highest part of the island.

Totally isolated area, no public transportation nearby, must have car to get around.

The sunset views are spectacular, the sea of ??clouds often left just below the house can almost touch. The house is located on the side of a valley and the front can see the sea in the distance.

Sergio, the house owner, is incredibly helpful and very quick to respond to any queries. He provided very good directions to the house. As Sergio was out of the country he arranged for me to collect the key from a restaurant near to the house. I have never booked through Trip Advisor before and I was mildly anxious about this arrangement but it worked. The house is in a very rural setting and access is via a steep track. I would suggest hiring a car that has a highish sump. The house is in a lovely setting, with good views and friendly neighbours. It has been rebuilt and furnished with a lot of thought. It is very well equipped and comfortable. The shower is modern and there is lots of hot water but not being able to open a window means you have to think about airing the bathroom rugs. The only thing that didn't work so well was the induction hob. Sergio explained it was temperamental due to the humidity. In the winter months the house can be a bit damp, especially when you first...

First thing you should know is that it is someone's house, which makes you feel more like you are couch surfing rather than paying for a rental house. Secondly it is a self build which means in this case that it is very roughly finished with the electric's leaving a lot to be desired. (I got a few small shocks from one of the lights) wires left uncovered and plug/sockets left unsecured. I think it could be beautiful but still needs more work.

When we arrived we were met by a very nice man who showed us to the house, he practically had to kick the door in as it was so swollen from the rain. He handed us the keys and left to figure out the house ourselves. First task find how to turn on the electricity and heating, the house was cold and damp - including the betting. We traded in our PJs for jumpers and thermals. , It took us two days to get a normal temperature in the house. It was great to have the wood fire however most of the firewood was also damp.
