    This ancient stone cottage, known as 'The Boathouse' and now restored to modern standards with spacious high ceiling living areas, is in the middle of a large private woodland in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, completely traffic-free with access via a good quality woodland track some 500 yards from the public road. The wood is part of one of the few temperate rain forests in the world, and has beautiful rare lichens on its ancient oak trees and two lakes, one just below the house. There are wonderful walks literally from the front door, up through the forest to reach viewpoints out towards Portmeiron, Harlech with its famous Castle, and the sea, and past the old mine-workings hidden in the woods.     The centre of the house is a large lounge with double-height wood-beamed ceiling, wood-burning stove and an attractive Ash staircase which winds up to the master bedroom on the first floor. There is a sizeable brand-new modern kitchen, extending dining table that easily seats 8, and an attractive wooden dresser. The ground floor also has two twin bedrooms, one of them with a generous picture window that looks out over the terrace and through the trees towards the Ffestiniog railway. The lounge has two large sofas, one of which converts to a bed, and two comfy red leather chairs. There is also a shower room on this floor. Upstairs, the master bedroom has an attractive sloping roof, with distant views through the rooflight windows and an en-suite bathroom.

    Prices include electricity and gas, but not bed linen or towels. We can provide these, at a cost per rental of £23 for 2 people, £39 for 3 to 6 people, and £51 for 7 or 8 people, just let us know, we do ask you to make up the beds yourself. For 6 or more guests on a short break, we do ask that you use our bedlinen. Payments: can be made by direct bank transfer, or by check. Refundable security deposit of £150 required with final balance payment.

    STANDBY: Even when the table shows minimum one week, if you book less than 2 weeks before arrival we can usually offer a 3-night stay at 75% of the full week price shown in the table, please ask.

    By train: Llundudno Junction is less than 3 hours direct from London, or easy access from Liverpool & Manchester. From there, about an hour each on the Conwy Valley branch line and then the Ffestiniog railway, to Plas Halt in Snowdonia National Park, within 10 minutes walk of the house.

Good location, central for hills and coast with superb walks right from the door and the Ffestiniog railway just a stroll away. There are lots of visitor attractions as well as good beaches within a ten mile radius/ The boathouse has everything you need, is comfy, well equipped and very warm, if anything too warm, even with the heating turned... more

We had visited the Boathouse twice with friends, both visits have been in crisp, dry Novembers & have been nothing short of idyllic. The house and location are stunning - allowing for long, lingering walks, evenings sat on longs round an open fire and afternoons playing cards or reading books.
