My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Gastehaus Gauernitzer Hof over New Year 2012/2013 - it was one of the most enjoyable New Years we've ever spent!
We were welcomed by Karin and Charlie so warmly and looked after in one of their well-appointed, self-contained apartments; and enjoyed a hearty, fresh and substantial German breakfast each morning! We enjoyed making full use of the wood-burning stoves and were kept very toasty in the large breakfast room and traditional wine cellar (of course, a couple of beers helped too!)
On a couple of occasions we had the pleasure of Karin's home-cooked dinners: these are certainly something to look forward to after a day in the cold! She's a talented lady - she also makes some beautiful pottery, that decorates the breakfast room (and we were a bit upset as we'd travelled handluggage only and couldnt find room to bring any home!)
