The Old Workshop is a luxury two bed cottage in a private courtyard on the edge of Bath. As with all four of our properties, (see below), the Old Workshop is finished to a very high four star standard and has achieved a 'Gold' award from 'Visit Britain' the UK's official tourism authority. It's ideal for a romantic get-away, a relaxing break or a base for all the many sights of the area. The accommodation is flexible, so the property is suitable and cost effective for between one and four people.

The Old Workshop has stunning views at the rear of the river Avon and beyond, underfloor heating, luxury oak painted kitchen, an ensuite shower room and main shower room. You can walk to the river Avon and a super riverside pub from where you can take a beautiful boat trip into the City of Bath. The surrounding countrysi...

I stayed here with my Mum and sisters for a girly weekend and had a lovely time. Before arrival the owners sent detailed information about the property and useful local knowledge of local restaurants and bars. The property was immaculately clean and welcoming with a bottle of wine and locally made cake. The beds were so comfy and the location... more

Management response:

Thanks Rhian, so pleased you enjoyed it. Glad you liked the Bathampton Mill - it's very popular with our guests, being so close, so we are keeping our fingers crossed it maintains its good reputation. Hope to see you again soon. All the best, John and Jane. more

The place is very nice and well set up but we noticed a really nasty smell in the back bedroom from the start. Initially we texted the housekeeper who said she would check but we never heard anything. Later emailed the owners. They expressed regrets, said it was odd since there was no drain in the bedroom, and offered us... more

Management response:

Firstly, Jane and I are both very sorry and sad the smell in the spare bedroom affected you so much. This was not the impression we had from the communication during your stay. In fact you made a point of saying "The place itself is lovely, the location is great, but I'm glad we don't have to sleep in that... more

Additional amenities & feature info
The Old Workshop has been set up to maximise the views over the beautiful Bathampton meadows at the rear, so the lounge/kitchen/dining area is on the top floor and the two bedrooms on the ground floor.

The fresh air ventilation and heat recovery system, coupled with luxurious underfloor heating, means you should enjoy perfect temperatures all year round.

Much use has been made of natural materials, so you will find lots of oak throughout the property, including the kitchen cabinets, which have been painted in one of our favourite Farrow and Ball colours.

The lounge area has two Chesterfield 2 seater leather sofas in which you can just sit and enjoy the view or take in some DVDs or your favourite music from the docking station.

The kitchen area, with its Bosch oven and hob is designed t...

The Old Workshop is accessed through a courtyard just off the High Street in the village of Batheaston, one of the small suburbs of the famous historic City of Bath.

Access by road is very simple. We are about half a mile from the main roundabout intersection of the A46 onto the London Road going into Bath.

There is a secure car parking space immediately in front of the property, whilst the bus stop, with regular services to and from the City, is immediately in front of the main building on the High Street. Typical journey time by bus or car is 10 minutes.

You can also walk or cycle, the towpath along the canal being a particularly attractive route. For a really leisurely journey you can get the boat to and from the City, from a landing stage by the weir on the river, just 5 or so minut...
