All the conveniences of Road Town are minutes away - dive companies, day sails, all ferry services to outer Islands, shopping, restaurants & the capitals financial centre.     From the apartment look out over its own private 750 square foot deck across the Harbor to Sir Francis Drake's Channel to Salt Island & Peter Island. The Allamanda apartment at Tobacco Wharf is situated between The Moorings Marina (to the East) & Village Cay Marina (to the West). A five minute walk takes you to the centre Road Town where you can find restaurants, shopping & the capital's banking centre. The central location of the Allamanda apartment has enormous benefits to most visitors to the BVI. You will probably want to visit other islands as Tortola is surrounded by other sister Islands. From the apartment you can walk to the ferry docks for Virgin Gorda, Peter Island and St. Thomas in USVI. You may also want to go sailing, snorkeling or scuba diving and several Day Sail yachts and Dive companies operate from Road Town. We enjoyed our stay here with a few exceptions.
First off, there is no central air. A problem for some. There is an A/C unit in the bedroom and it worked great. For me, the breeze from the bay was enough for me, my girlfriend had a harder time.
We did not prepare meals here. In part due to the older cookware with old food stuck to it in the kitchen ceiling rack. There was a major roof leak above the dinning room. I'm glad I had no electronics on the table at the time. Lisa (the owner) told me she was working on it, and at times it would not leak. It did 2 times during rain, one other time it did not.
My advice:
If you are looking for an affordable place and don't want to spend all your time here (and if you do, you miss the charm of the island) this is a good choice. The pictures are spot on, and other that the kitchen it's clean. The dock out back is really great but could use some new deck chairs. A great place to finish off a day of adventures!
