We booked this cottage at the last moment, after we had seen it when visiting Branscombe for the day. When looking at it online, I was rather concerned that the ceilings would be a bit low for my husband who is six foot tall. He did have to remember to duck under a couple of beams, but by and large it wasn't an issue. Having your own parking beside the cottage rather than in the lane that passes the pub is a real bonus. But the best thing about it is its proximity to the Fountain Head - a really great pub. If you're worried about noise - and that was another reason we had dithered about booking it - don't be. There is a thick hedge between the cottage and the pub, and the walls of the cottage are so substantial that you do not hear very much at all.
The cottage is very well-equipped, although, as there is no mobile reception, perhaps the owners should consider installing wifi for those desperate to stay in touch without the outside world - it didn't bother us.

Wow. The location could not have been more picturesque, the house more comfortable and inviting, the village more perfect. We unpacked our luggage, walked to the bottom of the garden, through a little gate and sat in the beer garden of the most idyllic English pub I've ever seen.
Now don't get me wrong - finding our holiday home sitting next door to a local pub was more than a little unnerving at first glance, but within the first couple of hours we realised that this little gem of a pub was treasured by both locals and travellers alike. Run by the friendliest of people it attracted like-minded, cheery patrons looking for a relaxing break.

I won't go on any more about the pub - just making it clear that its close proximity to...
