We stayed midweek in January and, after all the hurly burly of Christmas it was so fabulous to relax in peace and quiet in this wonderfully atmospheric place.
The Clarendon Suite is light and bright and very welcoming. The bedroom has shutters on the window making it really dark so I had the best night’s sleep ever as I had no idea what time it was! The spa bath was great for a relaxing massage bath too with a glass of wine in hand. We also went up to the North Lakes Spa as membership was included in the price and had a lovely afternoon in the pool, steam room and sauna. I was thinking of getting a massage too but I was so chilled out by then I didn’t need it!
We didn’t explore the area much but it’s a beautiful part of the world. We wandered round the grounds and saw a deer and RED squirrels – wow! We didn’t cook as we preferred to wander down to the local pub and tea rooms – but everything was there to make it easy if we’d wanted to.
