We loved our bed and breakfast accommodations. The decor of the house was original and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable. The only down side was that the shower took quite a long time to heat up - about 10 minutes. The hosts did caution us about the water.
Breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit, juices, pastries and more. Bicycle rental was included in our fee, so we bicycled to the small medieval town of Damme one morning, about six kilometers. That was the highlight of our trip for me- there was almost no traffic, and we rode by cornfields and farm animals- cows, horses, sheep, roosters, etc. It was a country morning. The highlight of Damme was a beautiful old half ruined church in red brick, early gothic or late romanesque I thought. That bike ride was worth the whole trip to Bruges for us. The town of Bruges, described sometimes as a Theme Park, was a little disappointing for us. Also, all those cobbles are hard on the feet! We did enjoy... more
