    tall, thin properties called Dixon Ground. Right on the footpath to the
    Old Man of Coniston and Levers Water, and on the foothills of the crags
    behind, these cottages are well situated for walkers keen to get
    straight onto the fells, as well into the village centre.

    Number 4
    is at the very end of the terrace, up the gravelled path. A new kitchen
    with dining table for four greets you as you come in through the
    backdoor. The living room has a large old fireplace with a strategically
    positioned leather sofa in front. The front door leads out to a shared
    cottage garden but there's plenty of space and benches to find room for
