    Foxglove Cottage

Foxglove Cottage lies in Bowness, one of the Lake Districts most popular villages, with its many shops, inns, cafes and restaurants leading down to the beautiful lake Windermere. Foxglove cottage is the perfect place to enjoy the outstanding natural beauty and to walk to local restaurants for a spot of dinner and maybe glass of wine or two.
The end property of three traditional lakeland cottages, Foxglove Cottage is a short walk from Bowness village and bay and yet remains private, hidden behind trees and shrubs. A shared drive leads up to the cottages and Foxglove is on the far end with lovely private garden to the rear.
The side entrance leads into the well equipped kitchen/dining room.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We stayed in this cottage for 3 nights for my 40th birthday. When we arrived, the cottage was freezing cold, there was no heating on, the travel cot had not been put up and was hidden in a wardrobe, there were no logs for the fire provided and not even any soap in the bathroom, and we couldn't get the TV to work. The 'welcome pack' had little information in it. This didn't make us feel very welcome. We had to ring Gary, the manager, who was quite frankly incompetent. He told us he managed 25 other cottages, and that he had only been managing Foxglove Cottage for a couple of months. He didn't know how the heating system worked and promised an electrician who never arrived. Gary didn't even know how the Sky box worked! I'm afraid he wasn't the brightest button in the box! His partner came to 'help' but she just got in everyone's way and on everyone's nerves as she just stood there not saying or doing anything - she even irritated my mother who is usually a placid person! In the end Gary... more

Fantastic cottage in a great location with its own parking space. The welcome pack was unexpected and well received and the cottage was spotless and just as described.
Having an on-suite and a family bathroom in a two bedroomed property is a great luxury especially with under floor heating in both with both bedrooms featuring comfy beds.
The multi-fuel stove in the lounge added to the atmosphere for a great stay.
