    Property description
    Holiday Rental House –
    3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8
Sleeping up to 8 people, she is a 66 foot semi-traditional narrowboat with a 5 foot well deck providing an outside seating area. Patricia Helen would qualify as a 5 star narrowboat as a 4 – 6 berth, but the addition of bunks drops her to a 4 star.

Once inside there is a large lounge, and dinette which converts to a double bed, with a spacious galley beyond. The galley holds a four ring gas hob, cooker, stainless steel sink, and under bench fridge with freezer compartment.

Further down are two cabins with bunks, one also having a toilet and washbasin. On past the large side hatch and spacious wardrobe is a bathroom, with second toilet and shower. Behind this is a fixed double bed, and a second TV.

Wow. We just finished a 4 day trip on Patricia Helen and we had a great time. Kate Boats staff were very friendly and relaxed. Most of our group were total novices but the staff gave us lots of helpful pointers so we felt more than capable of handling the boat when we left. We had ordered all our food and drink from an online supermarket and it was all loaded on the boat for us. The interior of the boat is extremely well finished. The shower is as good as most people have at home and even with 8 people on board we never ran out of hot water. We were surprised to see how much nicer our boat was compared to other hire boats on the canal. Kate Boats seem to have better sound proofing than other boats, so unless you're driving the boat you wouldn't even know the engine was on. Especially when sitting in the bow, the ride is completely silent, it really does feel like you're gliding. One member of our group has been very sea sick on water in the past, but he found that canal...

We had a fantastic week on Patricia Helen. The boat is well equipped, with a clean, modern interior and (for a narrow boat) plenty of space inside. Kate Boats are a great outfit - small, family run business who are really friendly and helpful. From Warwick there are several options for where to go - we went east on the Grand Union, which was beautiful. Going through the Braunston Tunnel was a particular highlight - if you play a musical instrument, take it and play it there, the acoustics are amazing! Plenty of pubs along the way for food and refreshment, but do your homework first, depending on what you like - some of the pubs on the river are pretty unimaginative in what they serve and you can do much better if you are prepared to walk a bit further. That said, we'd strongly recommend the Admiral Nelson in Braunston - great location and excellent food. more
