Our stay at Ty Carno was pleasant. June, the owner, was friendly and the accommodation and pool/jacuzzi were clean. The kitchen had almost everything you'd need and towels and bed linen were provided. June had laid out leaflets for excursions and activities in the surrounding area and provided a folder with clear maps of walks you can take from the cottage.

The accommodation (Ty Carno) is quite dated (particularly the bed linen). The pool is too cold for young children (and pretty cold even for adults) altho the jacuzzi is lovely and warm. We were advised the pool was kept at 27-29C and it seems it was at 27C when we stayed (public children's pools are kept at a minimum of 30C). Plenty of towels were provided and the privacy and cleanliness of the pool house are amazing. You do need to leave about 5-10 mins after each use however for mopping up and covering the pool/jacuzzi.

The surrounding area is wonderful. There is a beautiful stream at the end of the field...

We've just had a fantastic holiday staying in the Carno farmhouse, which stands at the foot of the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons. We had a warm welcome from the owners, and a very comfortable stay in the well-equipped farmhouse which is over 400 years old, and has many original features. The kids enjoyed the play equipment, including the zip wire and trampoline. They also spent lots of time watching the sheep being herded by trainee sheepdogs. We didn't make as much use of the indoor swimming pool as we could've, because we were blessed with excellent weather, and there was too much else to do. Stunning walks directly onto the mountains from the cottage, great cycling for all abilities, canoeing on the canal or river, horse riding and rock climbing at the Llangorse activity centre, and exploring caves and waterfalls in the valleys, including a walk behind a waterfall, which was a great experience. Two of our group went gliding at the friendly and welcoming Black Mountain Gliding... more
