We spent memorable Christmas holidays in Alan's home. It is very spacious, and we were ten people in all. We had family meals around the large oak dining table, surrounded with antique furniture and visible wooden beams.
The bow windows are great - when you sit in the armchair you feel like you are in the middle of the garden (which was covered with snow) and yet you are just next to the dancing flames of the fireplace which gives that cosy "feelgood" feeling.
The annex is a wooden chalet with a very modern layout - like a loft. We had a lot of fun playing pinball, table tennis and table hockey.
The surroundings are really great. In Cormeilles we visited a distillery of Calvados, the reknowned apple brandy, and they explained how this liquor was traditionally manufactured. We went for a walk in Honfleur, a very nice fishing port with many restaurants, a Christmas market and art galleries. There is also Deauville with its very well known boardwalk... more
