It's only recently that Kea has come on my radar, and I wish I'd heard about it before. This tiny island in the Cyclades is unspoiled, breathtakingly beautiful and has all that you need for the perfect holiday – a wonderful secret that so far the Greeks have managed to keep all to themselves! Not only that, it's just an hour on the boat from Athens.
Kea Villas are the perfect place to base yourself. Scrupulously clean, well furnished and with all the conveniences you need for modern life, like a pool, big fridge, comfy beds and wi fi – you really couldn't ask for anything better. We stayed in the Sunset Villa which, as it's name suggests, faces west so you get the shimmering Technicolor glory of crimson, purple and gold as the sun as dips into the Aegean each night.
The villas are in in the mountains above the capital Ioulis, but you don't need a car to get to the village – you can walk to the town down just under 400 steps – though you might find the walk back up... more
