Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Welcoming, well equipped in a great location
From the welcoming afternoon tea to the minute we left we were very comfortable. The cottage was well equipped, warm and had everything we needed. It was a great base for exploring the north of England, with several beautiful local walks. John and Diana were wonderful hosts. We highly recommend this cottage and would stay again if in the area

Fabulous, traditional country cottage
Wow, wow, wow! Goldsbourgh cottage is just one of those places which does exactly what it says on the tin, and more. We were welcomed by both John & Diana, who are a lovely couplle and this is reflected in the attention to detail of their property, we even had home baked scones and carrot cake, which Dad ensured was left for him! Overlooking the Hury reservoir. Goldsbough cottage is so tranquil with the foot of the Pennines way sitting on it's door, and a world of adventure not more than a 15min drive in any direction. We as a family with young children (10 & 7) made the most of the location and walked to both High force water fall and Barnard castle. The kids loved the adventure and exploring, must say they loved the smaller waterfall behind bowesley tourist board, which was really cool. The cottage was so well equipped we cannot recall anywhere else being like this, the cottage was truly immaculate, and extremely cozy. For us, we think we have discovered a little bit of paradise hidden away from anywhere, and anyone. So ifyou want a beautiful cottage, with the most amazing scenery, in one of the most friendly places with an abundance of the most friendly folk you ever want to meet, Goldsbourgh cottage is that place. Just remember, if you want HD TV, outside Hot tub, mini fridge, swimming pool and a kiddies club, this is not it. But if you were looking for what we wanted, a family retreat, to explore and play games, Goldsbourgh will tick your box. A huge thank you to John and Diana, I never got carrot cake better anywhere while out and about, and we hope to see you soon. Cheers Family T

A loverly place to relak in away from the noise of the towns
The cottage is high in the Pennies away from the noise of towns. The cottage is very nice and clean to a very high standard. John & Dinna make you very welcome and should need anything the doing there best to supply it.

Welcoming , warm ,cosy, well equipped cottage
We just had 3 nights at the cottage and were given a warm welcome on arrival with a lovely tea tray waiting in the cottage with cakes and scones.yum ! There was a generous supply of coal and logs for those chilly evenings. The cottage itself is in a lovely setting with lots of places to visit all around . Bowes museum and Eggleton nursery and gardens are a must .We had just a taster but hope to return again soon.

Goldsborough View is an idyllic cottage in which to enjoy the most relaxing hoiday within a beautiful of location.
My wife & I have stayed in Goldsborough View during every year since 1999 either as a main holiday or second holiday. We love the well appointed cottage and the most warm welcome always received from the owners, John & Diana Young. They literally bend over backwards in ensuring our complete comfort and satisfaction. We are always sorry to leave but absolutely delighted to return to our very special home away from home. We firmly believe the foregoing says it all.
