    These holiday houses are two parts of a typical traditional Charentaise farm house, which has been carefully renovated to retain its character, the upstairs bedrooms beams still have the bark on them, as they were put up hundreds of years ago as almost whole trees. Both houses never the less have all new 'mod cons' for your comfort.

    A connecting door can be unlocked for both houses to be used by one party, if requested on booking

    Ferries- Portsmouth to St Malo or Caen are the nearest. Driving from both these ports is easy down good dual carriageways and uncongested motorways.

    La Rochelle airport - Ryan Air from Bristol or Easyjet from Stanstead.
    Bordeaux Airport - Flights available from many UK airports and with many carriers.

    The property is 20 mins drive from Saintes (where you leave the A10 motorway via Retaud to La Sauvete), or one hour 20 mins from La Rochelle airport. Sat nav is very helpful but not necessary.

    Car Hire is available to book with your flights online if you are flying, Hertz, Budget cars, Avis etc.

We had a great stay in La Sauvete Farmhouse. The place was very well equipped for our party of 6 adults and 4 children. The location is splendid as it gives you the best of both that France has to offer: La Sauvete is in a tranquil rural part of France whilst in 20 minutes you can be at one of the great beaches La Gironde has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed cycling to the Boulangerie every morning in nearby St Andre de Lidon passing fields full of sunflowers and grapes, and some wonderful French period properties. We did at day trip to Bordeaux that was do-able, as well as many pleasant trips to nearby places like Royan, Talmont and Cozes. The Wednesday market in Cozes is well recommended as is the local Cozes wine! We would definitely recommend La Sauvete for a larger group or family as the property gives you flexibility on how you set yourself up, there is plenty of private parking, a large secure garden and a great extra in the large open barn on the side of the building where you... more
