I travelled to Tuscany for a short break just after Christmas. I was looking to rent a villa rather than stay in a hotel as i wanted to get the feel for the real Tuscany, and that is exactly what i found when i stayed for a few nights at Villa Emilliano. The villa is located around 20kms from the beautiful medieval city of Arezzo. The villa is set in glorious mountains, with some of the most spectacular views i have ever experienced anywhere in the world. Another wonderful aspect of the villa's location is its relative remoteness and the deafening silence of the surroundings, except when on occasions the peace is shattered by the distant and not so distant howling wolves! As an urbanised Brit its not something we are used to, but i loved it!
The Villa itself is stone built in the classical style of the period circa 1800s. The building is on 3 floors, the second floor is where i stayed, but a little bit on the large side for just one person, I guess it is intended for multiple... more
