We have just returned from a week at Lacrouts and would unhesitatingly recommend it. The accommodation itself is generous, the house is well-equipped (the games room is brilliant), the garden is well kept (and has a lovely outdoor eating area and barbecue) and the pool is huge. The house is surrounded by maize fields and is very private. There is no light or noise pollution at night, so great for star gazers (and for those who like watching bats and owls!) There are lots of great value restaurants in the area and plenty of supermarkets for food shopping. For cyclists (like me) the roads are well surfaced and pretty empty with stunning views (and some brutal climbs) round every corner. Some of the best beaches in Europe (eg St Girons plage, where you can watch the sun set over cocktails) are under an hour away and there is canoeing on the river at Amou and Orthez which are both short drives away.
