    Property description
    Holiday Rental House –
    2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 4
The Old Chapel is a superb cottage in a peaceful hamlet hidden away in the secret little valley of Wensley Dale just beyond Matlock. Nestling among houses on the slopes of Oker Hill, the Chapel's light and airy rooms, glowing log burning stove, oatmeally carpets, quality furnishings and extensive equipment make this a wonderful holiday retreat.

You will be spoilt for choice if you like walking - by the side of the river into Matlock, up on to Stanton Moor to see the 'Nine Ladies Needles', along lovely Wensley Dale, or out over the hills on the nearby Limestone Way. Or, if you are like me, it's just the stroll of an evening to the Square and Compass or Three Stags in Darley Bridge.

With walks a plenty you may decide to while away your days in and around Oker. But remember...

The M1 motorway skirts the eastern edge of Derbyshire and then it's just a 20 minute drive into the Peak District.

Long distance buses serve many of the main towns in Derbyshire especially Buxton, Chesterfield and Derby.

Derby and Chesterfield Railway Stations are on the Midland Mainline railway from London to Sheffield.

Matlock Railway Station is the nearest station which is at the end of the branch line that runs from Derby to Matlock.

Oker is very easy to get to by car but the little village isn't served by local buses. However, there are lots of taxi firms based in the surrounding towns.

Matlock is the nearest town but Bakewell is also within easy reach.

Manchester International airport and East Midlands airport are the closest airports to Derbyshire.

We decided to return for a weeks holiday in the Peak District to visit friends and family, this is why we chose The Old Chapel which lies between Chatsworth Park and Matlock Bath. Since moving to the Cotswolds for work we have only been back for odd day trips and weekends. Whilst it holds something special for us, Derbyshire has... more

Beautiful house, really well renovated and a little bit different. A welcome basket with essentials and a bottle of wine awaited us. The kitchen has an electric aga which keeps the whole cottage warm and cosy ....especially when it was 27 degrees! But by the end of the week the temp had dropped considerably and we appreciated it. The other... more

This beautiful, warm and perfectly equipped property was just right. It manages to combine a spacious yet cosy feel and is renovated to a high standard. I stayed here both alone and at times, with family and was completely comfortable in both cases. The outside space is small and at the front of the property, opposite the houses on the... more
