    ½ mile from Slapton, a south-facing, hill-sheltered, very pretty, Grade II listed, detached thatched cob cottage with probably 15th cent. origins. All around is a large, mostly lawned garden, full of primroses and daffodils in the spring, with meadows beyond. Immediately in front, a paved area (table/chairs) with gates to the narrow approach lane and a number of stone steps up to the lawn and orchard (fantastic picnic/snoozing spot) with sun loungers and more chairs.
    Inside, typically lumpy, bumpy walls, lopsided low lintels (some lower than 5'), two sets of stairs and slate floors downstairs. Stayed as a couple during June 2014.
Lovely cottage in an idyllic location. Very well equipped and a very good standard of housekeeping.
Nice walk to the village pub and Slapton Sands (about half an hour) a bit hilly, would be challenging if pushing a pram or similar.
Access to the cottage is via a five bar gate with good parking, then 21 steps from the top garden to the living room or kitchen door to unload.
You can unload at the side in the adjacent narrow lane with no steps involved but other vehicles, which are few, could cause you to move.
This is a very good cottage with beautiful views from the top garden but would be challenging for any person with a disability. I would advise a full discussion with the letting agents, who are very good.
One minor issue; upon our arrival there was evidence of dog aroma in the living room and although cleaned very well there was some staining on the fireside rug.
This cottage is 'pet friendly' but stipulates confined...
