    Holiday Rental House –
    1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, Sleeps 2
Stay in our pretty cabin, next to the cottage where we live, which nestles in the beautiful Breton countryside. This is a very tranquil, rural area and walks can be taken straight from the back door along the lanes or across the fields. The Nantes/Brest canal is close by and is a great place to cycle or walk . Red squirrels scamper in the trees, deer roam the fields and, if you are lucky you may see the hare that visits the garden.

The cabin has a lovely hot shower, separate w.c. and small kitchen area with sink, mini fridge, kettle and oven with grill (no hob). It very comfortably sleeps two in the four poster bed.. There is a small, sunny terrace with barbeque and plenty of space to relax. There are two acres of secluded garden and you can always find a quiet spot to sunbathe or r...

    How to get there
FROM ROSTRENEN If you make your way to Rostrenen centre, take the D790 to Le Faouet/Plouray for about 6 or seven kms.

You will pass signs to St Michel and then see a turning on your left, signposted Kertanguellou. The sign is in quite small writing so watch out for it! Take that lane for about quarter of a mile and you will see a collection of rubbish bins set on the junction of three small lanes. Take the one which is directly right and is signposted Kertanguellou. This is also a small sign in the hedge.

Follow the wiggly lane, past a house with red shutters and a pink painted gate. The first lane on your left is Kertanguellou and our cottage is the first one you come to. The drive into the gardens is just beyond the cottage. The cabin is hidden away at the back but someone...

We had a lovely week here with amazing night skies, wonderful autumn walks along nut strewn tracks and evening meals taken by candlelight on the terrace listening to the owls and watching an old toad making her way to the pond, to gently slip into the water for the night. This is a delightful place and Jo our host is... more

Spent a lovely week here in a superb little chalet in lovely gardens, welcomed with cake just out of the oven. Lovely Jo always available but unobtrusive. Close to nice little towns and set in lovely countryside ... very quiet no disturbance. Great bed and super shower. Clean and bright. Definitely a return visit. Would recommend highly. more

I have mixed feelings about The Shack as does my partner. It's not a chambre d'hote nor is it quite a gite. First the pro's, Joanne is a lovely person and very helpful, I hope she takes some of my comments in the spirit they are given, hopefully helpful to improve the experience of staying in The Shack. There’s a... more

Management response:

I enjoyed having this couple to stay so I was a little disappointed with their review, especially as my advertisement very clearly describes the facilities available in The Shack. The price for renting The Shack reflects the fact that we offer a simple but comfortable and quirky living experience in a little cabin, for those who want to escape from... more
