The cottage was an old courthouse with lots of character and history. It is centrally located and we were able to easily do day trips to Galway, Connemara, Tipperary and many other places. The welcome pack of essentials was lovely especially the chocolate and the owners were very welcoming and helpful. The cottage has very thick walls and as such was always warm. All the facilities were excellent.
You need your own transport as the village is very quiet with minimal facilities. So if you want a happening place this is not for you. The pub only opened for a couple of hours at night but Portumna is a short drive away and has all the facilities that you require. Lorrha itself is full of history and worth exploring. The drive around Lough Derg was very pretty. We will go back next time we visit from Australia. more
