Montevideo is a charming place. Interesting architecture, vibrant culture, and a warm relaxed people. This apartment in Punta Carretas was ideal as a base for our exploration of the city. It is situated about two blocks from La Rambla, a dynamic recreational and scenic asset, and is adjacent to Parque Rodo, a large city park with passive recreational space, the Visual Arts Museum, an amusement park for the kids, and a focal point for community celebrations, like when Uruguay advances in the World Cup. There's also a Sunday market in the park, not as big as the main Sunday Market, and devoted mostly to clothing and accessories.
There are a number of very nice restaurants in the neighborhood, and a small supermarket as well. The Punta Carretas shopping center is nearby, and other shopping opportunities are a short cab ride away.
