The White House, a pair of privately owned three-storey villas, is located perfectly, at the edge of the National Park by the side of Birdlake for tranquility. The White House at Birdlake is situated at the end of a quiet unpaved road just 10 minutes away from surfing beaches and the nightlife in Hikkaduwa.

The villas may be rented separately, or together for that grand family reunion. 12 guests can be comfortably accommodated in 6 rooms, but extra beds can be added for children.The villas enjoy generous living and dining areas, private kitchens and master bedroom suites with en suite bathrooms.

Inspired by the landscape, the sloping site leading down to the lake has been used to maximum advantage. Opened in 2008. The property was designed by architect Rihan Peruma. The simplicity of his design with lofty, light filled interiors, enhanced by contemporary furniture and the bold use of colour creates an environment which is a joy to encounter. High ceilings and natural air flow keeps the villa cool sustained by the natural cement floors. Picture windows give uninterrupted views of the lake which can be reached at the foot of the gardens just beyond the private pools.

The White House offers a welcome change to the colonial style of beach villas which adorn the coastline.

The southern coastal belt is the most popular among the tourists and comes to life mainly from November through April when the sea becomes calm and the sky becomes blue. May, June and July are probably the hottest months of the year and a great time to hit the beach and soak in the sun.
