Our extended family of parents and grown offspring stayed at Casa Castillo for one week. We had a marvelous stay. It is an unusual property, which was perfect for us, but would not be a good choice for young children or anyone who can't do stairs. Access to the property is by a very steep 50-yard (+/-) driveway that can only be driven if you have a 4x4 vehicle. Tour companies were willing to pick us up at the top of the driveway. We walked the half-mile uphill to the Quepos-Manuel Antonio Road in order to catch buses, which run about every 15 minutes between Quepos and Manuel Antonio Park. We did not rent a car, and managed fine walking and using cabs and buses. We walked a lot. Walking to the beach is about a 45 minute walk, 15 minutes walk uphill to the main drag and then either left to Playa Biesanz just to the north or right to La Playita just to the south. There is a convenience store at the top of road to the main drag--we found that very handy for necessities.
