The Wild Olive Tree Camp

  • Property description
    Holiday Rental House –
    15 Bedrooms, 15 Bathrooms, Sleeps 30
The camp is beautifully situated on a dry river bed shaded by big trees. The 15 tents each have a bathroom ensuite with hold and cold water. A lovely boma - dining area covered by a thatch roof with wood burning pizza ovens provides a unique dining experience. As it is located on The Orpen Kruger Park Gate you can be the first to enter the Kruger park or the last to leave; as if you stay in the actual Park! But we also provide private game drives with an experienced guide if you want to stay away from the big crowds! The Mnisi Community is in charge and this highly successful operation also allows you to listen to their stories around the fire or make a trip into this community. An affordable big 5 experience in a safe environment as it is fenced of from the Kruger Park but still ideal to... more

The tented camp was charming. We chose it because it is run and operated by the local community. The staff were very obliging. Thank you Olga! The game drives into the Manyeleti Game Reserve were so easy to do, being right next to the gate.
The down side was that there is no electricity. You cannot charge your phones. It was very hot when we were there. It would have been a treat to have a fan in the room.

Management response:

Thank you so much! We are looking into installing fans and chargers specifically for phones. It's one of those items you only realise when people like yourselves are willing to give honest feedback. Thanks again! more

If you want the 'bush' experience (staying in a tent, hearing the animals at night, sitting around the campfire), this is the place to be. Great value for money.

The tents were cleaned every day and were very comfortable, they had everything we needed. Great hot shower, the first in South Africa that was high enough for my partner to fit under! We could hear the hyena's very close to the tent and even an occasional lion's roar at night. The camp also had almost daily visits from a leopard! Last but not least; the staff is amazing. Good food from Sarafina, service from Olga (who remembers everything) and two amazing gamedrives with Satis (Lions at 2 meters away!). We also enjoyed our evenings at the camp fire.

We looked everywhere to find a place to stay while at Kruger and we couldn't have been happier ending up here.
