We booked this cottage for a relaxing long weekend in Blakeney, where we could prepare our own food in comfort. The disappointment started as soon as we entered through the kitchen, which looked tired, dirty and uncared for. Immediately obvious was a disgusting looking hob, and then we found the fridge which was completely iced up (see photos). The cups in the cupboard had been put away dirty and saucepans still contained baked on food - yuk! There was a mish-mash of cheap, old cutlery but not a single teaspoon and only one egg cup. The dishwasher gave off an obnoxious smell (drains??) as soon as it was switched on and took ages to clear.
That was enough for us! We complained immediately to the owner, and if we could have found alternative accommodation we would have moved out straight away - as it was we left early the following morning and booked into a hotel for the rest of our stay.
The owner steadfastly refused to accept that anything was wrong with the cottage and...
