My husband and I stayed at Muirmailing with our young children (2.5 years and 1 year old) for a week in March. The cottage is a lovely mix of the old building with lots of modern yet homely features inside. It's set up very well for children - we were able to request a highchair, stair gates and cot which saved us packing those bulky extras! It is also stocked with everything you could need - all kitchen and bathroom products - with a system that you replace what you finish. This works brilliantly.
Wendy and Graham are very welcoming and gave us lots of tips on places to visit, where to park and which roads to take (thank you!). And we were delighted to see the ponies and dogs every day. It feels like you are part of the working nursery.
Muirmailing is in a great location, very peaceful but with good links to towns and cities. We enjoyed trips to Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Loch Lomond and Edinburgh, all easily accessible. We could not fault it at all, it was the perfect...

We only stayed here for a couple of days while visiting friends up for the Ryder cup so didn't really get a flavour of the area. But it is only 15 minutes from Stirling, and we passed by the Kelpies and Falkirk wheel on the way so there are certainly attractions in the area.
The cottage itself was just lovely. Very clean as might be expected from something only just opened this year. It was also very well equipped and furnished. The location was very quiet for our visit with lovely views across the country side. It is however in the grounds of the owners nursery business so might get busier in the spring. That said I don't think a few visiting gardeners is too much to cope with and our 20month old daughter loved wandering amongst the plants almost as much as she loved visiting Mimi and Penny the resident horses. In all a really relaxing stay in a lovely part of the country.
