4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2012 for a stay in August 2012

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in this cozy bungalow a short walk down a dirt road to the beach. The cottage is nicely furnished with lots of "beachy" wall hangings and signs including large starfish in each front window. We're happy to report the cottage now does have a drying rack for all those wet beach towels. We made frequent use of the gas grill in the quiet backyard and sat at the outdoor round table for our afternoon cocktails. The 32" LCD screen TV kept us occupied on the nights we decided to eat in. An added plus to the TV was the 45 or so "Music Choice" station which played a huge selection of music from reggae to "singers and swing" to all types of Rock, Country, R&B, 70's up to 90's or "Smooth Jazz," "Easy Listening," "Light Classical," and Classical. They even had a "Just for Tots" and a "Kidz" music station. Only downsides we found were that the kitchen had soup bowls and large... more

We stayed here 8/13 - 8/20/11 with our two kids and had a fantastic time. The house has been nicely remodeled and is comfortable -- available beach chairs and cart were a plus. Beach is a very short 5-10 minute walk up the nearly traffic-free dirt road.

Our only two (minor) complaints were a lack of a clothesline or drying rack (we had beach towels and swimsuits hanging on every doorknob and kitchen chair) and that the landscaping wasn't kept up (which was made noticeable by the surrounding well-tended, owner-occupied properties). WiFi access would've been nice -- AT&T iPhone access was spotty at times.

Dennisport is great if you have small children and need access to restaurants, ice cream, and things to do when it rains. The public beaches are a little small and crowded, and Nantucket Sound is a little seaweedy, but if you make a few day trips to the "wilder" National Seashore beaches (30-40 minutes) then you get the best of both worlds.
