    Casa Tezontle is in Mexico’s City Historic Downtown, the most fascinating and old neighborhood where Mexico began its history. One block from the beautiful Santo Domingo Plaza, 6 blocks from the main’s city plaza (a.k.a. Zocalo) and the Templo Mayor ruins, 4 blocks from the famous Garibaldi Plaza, the Tequila Museum, 5 blocks from Bellas Artes, 6 from the Park Alameda, 3 stations from traditional market, 1 block from supermarket, 3 blocks from the underground subway system. There are several car parkings around. Just outside the door you’ll find the Metrobus with a direct and safe route from and to the Mexico City’s International Airport.

Casa Tezontle is located in an older builder divided into apartments. For anyone interested in architecture & interior design, these elements are a bonus. You enter the building through the main secured door, walk down a short hallway, up some stairs (occasionally past a small, timid poodle), into a small courtyard with a table, chairs and a hammock. This is a great place to drink tea in the afternoons and evenings.

Entering Casa Tezontle through another secure door, you will find a large living/dining/kitchen space with high ceilings, wood beams, exposed brick, and a cement floor. The furniture is simple, hip, and comfortable. There are lots of plants. The kitchen is basic but was more than adequate for us. There is a very small balcony looking over Belazario Dominguez - we loved leaving the door open and taking in the street scene.

The downstairs bedroom's bed is on the firm side, but comfortable. One wall is covered by bookshelves and books, most in Spanish...
