    High Gate is set in rural Lancashire, yet close to the motorway. Making this the ideal setting for those wishing to tour the wider areas of Lancashire, the Lakes, and East Yorkshire. Burnley has each year a Blues festival, and in July the Balloon festival and a walking week, Briercliffe has historic connection with the Quaker Movement some of the older properties being used as a meeting house.

    For people looking for the historic castles there are Skipton and Clitheroe. Houghton Tower is a 16th century fortified manor house. Country houses include Townley and Slamesbury halls. Howarth art gallery has the largest collection of Tiffany glass in Europe. The Abbeys of Whalley and Sawley. The ruins of Wycoller Hall with it's Bronte connections, all this and more is just a short journey.

    Threshings is next door the High Gate and part of the old barn, it has been tastefully converted leaving beams in the bedrooms and some exposed stone work. The rooms are large a spacious.
    The lounge has a stone fireplace with a wood burning stove, a leather three piece suit. The kitchen has a dinning table to seat 6 with all the equipment you need. The rear door opens on to the patio area and garden. That is succour for children to play, on the very large shared lawn area. That has ample room for ball games, and views over the open county side.

    The two bedrooms both have a e suit shower room fitted with a steam shower. One room has three single beds to other has a king and a single bed.

    Being next door to High Gate to two properties are ideal for the large party.

The holiday rental is set in a lovely location, very rural, but local amenities a short car journey away. No One was there to meet us when we arrived even though we were told we could check in from 11am. After spending time walking round the farm we actually found someone who could let us in. They asked if they could come early I said yes, but that the cleaners would not be finished, as some one was leaving that morning, and we did not mind if they did not mind. But they did mind. more

We booked this property for a long weekend for myself, my husband and our 2 children who are 1 and 3. The property is impressive externally and on first glance was spacious inside with everything we needed. Unfortunately as we took a closer look, the place was filthy! Me & my family stayed for over a week at the Threshing cottage with two little girls. It was a great little hideaway with everything equipped at the cottage which was a great pecae of mind. Definately loved the cottage and can not recommend it highly enough, hoping to return next year with a bigger party and for longer so... more
